Recreational scuba diving is a very safe sport but as we enter an environment that is inhospitable to human life, there are many safety factors that must be considered.

An issue that is simply a nuisance on the surface can create stress, disorientation or mortal danger if the diver is unprepared.

One of the mandates of the Underwater Council of BC is to promote safer diving and reduce fatalities that could be avoided through education.

This section was created to shed light on the common and not so common problems that can be encountered by divers in BC and abroad. Thanks to our friends at Ocean Quest Dive Center for contributing an article.
